Valentine’s Day is always big in Cape Town. If you still don’t know what to do or if you just need some ideas- we have the best hints for all the lovers and the singles!
Valentine under the stars
Looking at the stars and listening to impressive music – can it be more romantic? Classic meets Pop: Valentine under the stars offers you an elegant and romantic open-air concert at the Castle of Good Hope. Selim Kagee, master singer in classical pop and Magdalene Minnaar, one of the top soprano singer of South Africa, will entertain you together with the philharmonic orchestra of Cape Town. Classic, romantic and stylish. The concert will start at 6 p.m.
Moonstruck Summer Beach Concert
One of our favourites: the Moonstruck Summer Beach Concert on Clifton 4th Beach. What can you expect there? Lots of music, ocean, beach, good atmosphere and the perfect spot for a picnic – and no entry! The moonlight-party offers live-music from the Solid Gold Session Band, who will play yesteryears classics. The Moonstruck Summer Beach Concert takes place every year in support of the National Sea Rescue Institute. If you want to support them you can buy glowing sticks there and as there is no entry, it will be a very nice touch. Music will start around 6 p.m. – but be sure to come there early, because it will be crowded very soon. Grab all of your friends and a picnic basket and you are ready to rock and roll
Paul Culver Summer Festival
Having a movie night with your darling or your best friends? Always a good idea! On Valentine’s Day there is the opportunity to do it at the Paul Cluver Summer Festival in Elgin Wine Valley. You can sit at the majestic amphitheater, which is surrounded by lots of eucalyptus and watch the classic Top Gun. Tickets are available at computerticket.com und are R100 per person. The best way to go there is to go by car. If you don’t have your own car, just call AROUND ABOUT CARS and we can arrange you a safe car to go there.
Love is … for everyone!
Shimmy Beach Club organized something special for this year’s Valentine’s Day. They offer you a bohemian- chic picnic with delicious, Japanese Bento Boxes directly on the private beach. Costs are 350pp and be sure to make a booking before.
Love is … for everyone! For friends, families, singles, in loved ones and for strangers. Bring them all and feel the sand between your toes, enjoy a cocktail and relax on the beach blankets. For those of you who want it more private, there is the opportunity to reserve a table at the restaurant there. From 9 p.m. there will be DJ Joris Delacroix who puts on some hot music at the pool. Entry for the Lounge Club is R100.
Having a romantic dinner with your sweetheart
There are a lot of restaurants and hotels that offer special packages for Valentine’s Day. One of our favorite is the dinner at Signal Hill Terrace of the Hilton. You can enjoy a great view and have a fantastic dinner there. Attention! Better take your pajamas with you, because the Hilton will raffle one night at the hotel and maybe you are the lucky winner. The five- course- menu on Signal Hill Terrace costs R395 per person. For those of you who wants to have a dinner on lower budget, just grab your sweetheart a picnic basket and place yourself in one of the beautiful spots in Cape Town.
